Search for "Harry Potter" on Ebay and you'll find lots of auctions (with lots of bids). Search for "Hary Potter" though - and you'll find far fewer auctions (with practically no bids). This is because no-one searches for the auctions with typos.

Generally, the fewer bids there are on an auction the lower the final price. Typozay lets you find common auction misspellings for any item you like.

Ebay bidding tips

  1. Bid early or late
Look for auctions finishing late at night or early in the morning. There are fewer people bidding then.
  2. Consider an auction sniper
It'll save you having to stay up late and avoid bidding wars.
  3. Look for auctions with typos
They attract fewer bids because they can't be easily found. But you knew that already. ;-)
  4. Don't get stung on postage
Some sellers charge extra on P&P to make up their profits. Check before you bid and factor it in.
  5. Bid odd numbers
Most people bid familar sounding numbers like 10, 50 or 100. To beat them, bid 10.03, 50.47, 100.01.
  6. Look for job lots
The seller just wants rid and most people don't want the whole lot. Buy it - sell what you don't need.
  7. Wait til summer
There's fewer people bidding. Look out for free listing days too - there's more sellers
  8. Looks too good to be true?
It probably is. Most auctions go fine - but don't let wishful thinking get in the way of common sense.
